Valentine's Day or "Saint Valentine's Day" is a time when couples openly express and shower their significant other with various demonstrations of love. There are many stories on the origin of Valentine's Day, but the most common is that this day, February 14, commemorates Saint Valentine, a third-century Roman saint and is associated with the tradition of courtly love. However, for many, it's simply a day for lovers to celebrate each other and their love with showers of affection. There are a number of ways to celebrate the day - these include dining out, going to the movies, sending or receiving flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals, jewelry, cards, or even sharing a romantic love poem with your partner.

In 1988 the first Jamaican Bobsleigh team made history in the Calgary Olympics Winter Games. There, they quickly became a fan favourite largely because of their status position as the ultimate 'underdog' story of the games. Not only was there the novelty of having a tropical country compete in a cold-weather sport, but they had very little practice going down a bobsled track before. The team, consisting of Devon Harris, Dudley Stokes, Michael White, and Nelson Stokes warmed the hearts of many worldwide in their first attempt at Olympic glory and was even immortalized in the popular Walt Disney movie "Cool Runnings".
Today a new chapter is being added to the ultimate Olympic underdog story with the recent announcement that the Jamaican bobsled team has qualified for the 2014 games in Sochi next month, securing one of 30 spots in the two-man bobsled event.

Jamaicans celebrate by gathering together around the dinner table, going to church and exchanging gifts with loved ones. Christmas Day dinner is the biggest feast - featuring chicken, oxtail, curry goat, roast ham, rice & gungo peas (these are a Christmas specialty for Jamaica as the peas ripen this time of year), Christmas cake, and the traditional sorrel drink.
