Tanja, a costume designer & wardrobe stylist tied the knot with Aakomon, a choreographer at Round Hill Hotel and Villas during the 2018 winter season. The LA-based couple’s nuptial was art in motion among an intimate group of family and friends.
We chatted with the beautiful bride, Tanja after her blissful celebration of love and happiness to learn more about the unique details of the events:
Why did you choose Round Hill as the ideal destination for your wedding?
My husband and I chose Round Hill after narrowing down a long list of resorts. We love the people and the culture in Jamaica, we wanted an indoor/outdoor private villa experience, and the Ralph Lauren interior decor elements worked in concert with our desired aesthetic.
What can you share about the concept/ details of the wedding? Decor, cake, location…
Part of our reasoning for choosing Round Hill was that our concept and decor could be easily integrated. We love clean whites and dark wood tones, accented with tropical greenery so building on top of the base of Round Hill’s decor was easy and the result was a wedding that was both unique in the space and cohesive overall. To travel to such a beautiful island and not take advantage of an outdoor venue would be a crime, so we chose the lush green area of The Spa Lawn overlooking the beach for our ceremony. The cake was a fun opportunity to bring in the color of the bride and groom’s wedding attire colors, which were unconventional.
Your dress was very modern and unconventional. What can you tell us about your choice? Who is the designer? Why did you choose that particular the colour, cut and style, etc.?
I chose to wear a semi-sheer red silk tulle gown designed by Christian Siriano. The dress featured a deep V neck and back, exposed sides, and an A-line skirt adorned with large vertical ruffles and of course a train. I’ve always admired Christian Siriano’s work from watching him win the season of project runway where his talent was first on display to the world. I love that the dress was unique but still had some traditional gown elements, and most of all that it was sexy and edgy but still made me feel grand and like a Bride. I absolutely loved the bright, vibrant color of the dress. It was the inspiration for the theme of our wedding #inlovingcolor. Red is a very emotionally intense color. Red is the color most associated with love, passion, desire, heat, longing, lust, sexuality, sensitivity, romance, joy, strength, leadership, courage, vigor, willpower, danger, vibrance, radiance, and determination. Red was perfect for my personality, and the cut revealed just the right amount of skin for the sun to kiss.
Tell us more about your Round Hill experience.
Planning with Round Hill’s team was a breeze. Yanique Crewe lead the operation and made sure no detail was left unaddressed. We would definitely work with her again for event planning, she’s a real gem.
What advice would you share with brides who:
Are considering destination weddings in Jamaica?
I recommend that you say yes, and move past this decision so you can get to all the others you’ll have to make. 😉
Have not yet considered a destination wedding in Jamaica?
You’d be foolish not to consider Jamaica. No better place on earth for excellent hospitality, fresh foods, beautiful scenery, beautiful people, and deep rooted culture that can be seen and felt the moment you arrive.
