Jamaica Wins with Online Music Battle

Jamaica created history last night on the latest episode of the Verzuz Instagram live battle series.  

The popular virtual concert has featured music battles celebrating iconic hit songs that span across generations and has featured heavyweight singers, songwriters and producers such as Babyface & Tevin Campbell, Ludacris & Nelly, Erykah Badu & Jill Scott. Last night, the event – curated by American producers, Swizz Beats and Timbaland – treated viewers to an authentic Jamaican sound clash experience between Dancehall veteran entertainers Beenie Man and Bounty Killa.

The event kicked off with the national anthem of Jamaica and ended with the song of the century, Bob Marley’s hit record “One Love”.

The production saw nearly 500 000 active users including celebrities such as Missy Elliot, Rihanna, Lala Anthony, Gabrielle Union, Erykah Badu, Idris Elba, Rihanna, Keri Hilson, Ella Mai, Busta Rhymes, Damian Marley, Snoop Dogg, Da Brat, Usain Bolt and many others.

Celebrations for the culture led to the occasion became a trending topic on Twitter and the official @verzuz Instagram page gained over 400 000 new followers.
