Getting Married in Jamaica: What You Need To Know

You’re planning your dream wedding in Jamaica and there’s nothing stopping you now! However, you’ll want to make sure to abide by Jamaican laws to ensure that your wedding is viable and you can stroll off into the Jamaican sunset as husband and wife.

Couples are required to be on the island 24 hours before the wedding date. The following documents are needed to apply for the marriage license:

  • Notarized copies (no photocopies) of birth certificates
  • Copy of a government issued picture id, such as a passport or driver’s licence
  • Divorce papers or death certificates
  • These documents should be sent to the Round Hill via courier, four weeks prior to the couple’s arrival at the Hotel to the attention of Racquel Bernard; Sales and Marketing; Round Hill Hotel; John Pringle Drive; PO Box 64; Montego Bay, Jamaica

At Round Hill, our event planner will arrange for a marriage officer depending on your religious affiliation. Premarital counseling may also be arranged prior to the wedding.
